The study identified hindrances that were encountered by Government in an attempt to build a nation devoid of gender discrimination and suggested strategies for developing a nation that places premium on the protection of all women and men in Nigeria. Secondary data were used for the study and analysed appropriately. The results of the analysis revealed that Government of Nigeria although committed to building a nation guaranteeing equal access to political , social and economic wealth creation opportunities devoid of gender discrimination .Yet there persists discrimination in national, state and local statues, customary and religious laws. As a result, the study canvassed for the abolition of traditions, customs, sexual stereotyping of social roles and cultural prejudices that militate against enjoyment of right and full participation of women on an equal basis with men in national development.
